Anyone want to trade Amare now?
December 12, 2006 on 7:11 am | In Commentary | 1 CommentI know. No one likes gloating. But come on. All you people who kept e-mailing me and commenting on this blog and others that Amare Stoudemire was washed up and the Suns should trade him as quickly as they can - yes, you know who you are. You don’t need to fix dinner tonight. Amare prepared enough crow for you all to eat in the past 11 games.
Amare is averaging 16.9 points and 8.2 rebounds per game for the season. In the past 5 games he’s even better - 21 points and 9.2 rebounds.
Any of you who thought Amare was washed up, please post your apologies to Amare below and I’ll compile them and send them to him. I’m sure he’ll appreciate opening up that gift on Christmas morning.

Amare, Shawn give Suns their 11th win
December 12, 2006 on 7:05 am | In Commentary, Game Recap | 1 CommentBehind Amare Stoudemire’s 30 points and Shawn Marion’s 19 points and 11 rebounds - along with Steve Nash’s 15 assists - helped the Phoenix Suns to put away the Orlando Magic for their 11th win in a row.
For the second consecutive night, the Phoenix Suns let the team hang around in the first half, just long enough to let the opposing team think they had a chance. Then the Suns turned on the defense in the 3rd quarter and the game quickly ended.
Amare Stoudemire had his defensive coming out party against the Magic by holding Dwight Howard - who usually scores 17.5 points and has 12.6 rebounds per game - to 4 points and 3 rebounds - and got him to foul out in only 19 minutes of play. Without Howard, the Magic is just a normal East Coast team.
The Suns are definitely on a roll and have to play the Shaq-less heat on Wednesday night. Phoenix is again tied with the Lakers for 1st place in the Pacific Division and have the 4th best record in the league.

Fox Sports Net to Replay Suns-Nets Game
December 9, 2006 on 7:05 pm | In Commentary | No CommentsIf you happened to miss the game on Thursday between the Phoenix Suns and New Jersey Nets, you can watch it again on Sunday at 7:00 Phoenix time. I tried looking it up on Cox Cable’s guide but couldn’t find it. But I’m pretty sure the guys on the game last night said it would be on Fox Sports Net at 7:00. If you haven’t seen it, it’s worth checking for the game just to catch the last few minutes of regulation and the 2 overtimes.

For Shawn Marion, Cartoons Are The Thing
December 9, 2006 on 6:57 pm | In Commentary | No CommentsThe New York Times has an interesting article about Shawn Marion and his love for cartoons. It doesn’t say how many DVDs he has but does say that he has storage containers containing the DVDs piled all over his house.
He even loans them out to his teammates every once in a while. It’s not a super in-depth article but it’s interesting. See the full article below:

Suns Beat Celtics Despite Troubles
December 8, 2006 on 8:09 pm | In Commentary, Game Recap | 1 CommentThe Boston Celtics could possibly be the worst team in the NBA right now. Going against a very tired Phoenix Suns team on the Celtics’ home court, despite Boston taking 27 more shots than Phoenix and even with of all of the unforced turnovers the Suns had, the Celtics could not close out the game against the Phoenix Suns who won the game 116-111.
Amare Stoudemire played only 23 minutes because of foul trouble. Steve Nash had 16 points and 14 assists. But Shawn Marion saved the game for the Phoenix Suns. He had 29 points and 12 rebounds. He defended Paul Pierce the entire game and even though Pierce had 36 points, I think he did a good job - especially at the end of the game.
Phoenix has won 9 in a row and is now tied with the Lakers for 1st place in the division. The Suns have a day off on Saturday and then play Charlotte on Sunday.
